Clandestine, by Ava Harrison is a contemporary romance novel. It is written from a first-person POV, two-sided.
I wanted so much to like this book…especially since I’ve never read her before…but I couldn’t do it. And here’s why:
- The pacing was imbalanced, it was way too fast. Scenes would be 500-1000 words and change 3-4 times in a single chapter
- I struggled liking the protagonists. Their personalities…were too harsh for me. Spencer was a narcissistic dick and Olivia had a really low self-esteem. I know that this is a common theme in romance (not necessarily the man being an ass and the woman being weak, it can be vice versa) but these two were TOO extreme. I struggled finding anything redeeming. I read about 12% of the book.
